1.2. By accessing or using our Website, purchasing a one-off vehicle history report (a “Report”), or subscribing to a membership plan (a “Membership”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”).
1.3. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Website or our services. You should print or save a copy of these Terms for your records.
2.1. We are a private, third-party provider of vehicle history checks. We are not affiliated with the UK Government, the DVLA, the police, insurers, finance companies, or any official “HPI Check” provider.
2.2. “HPI” and “HPI Check” may be trade marks of their respective owners. Any such references are for descriptive purposes only.
2.3. Our Reports are compiled from a range of third-party data sources and partners. Availability and content may depend on data supplied by those third parties.

3.2. Each Report typically includes checks such as outstanding finance, write-off status, recorded theft, mileage anomalies, plate changes, import/export status, and other items—as described on the Website at the time of purchase. Exact checks may vary by data source and vehicle.
3.3. Similar services may be available elsewhere, sometimes at different prices. You choose our service for the convenience, presentation, and support we provide.
5.1. Agreement & Auto-renewal.
By selecting a Membership and ticking the checkbox at checkout, you agree to these Terms. Memberships renew automatically each billing cycle until cancelled.
5.2. Start date. Your Membership begins when your initial payment is processed. If you start a Trial, the Trial begins on activation (see 5.5–5.12).
5.3. Benefits & limits.
Membership benefits (e.g., number of Reports per month, data features, support level) are as stated at sign-up and on your account page. Usage limits reset each billing cycle and don’t roll over unless we expressly say so.
5.4. Individual use.
Memberships are for individual use unless we approve a business plan in writing. Sharing, reselling, or bulk/automated use isn’t permitted without our consent.
Trials
5.5. Trial offer.
We may offer an introductory Trial at the price shown at checkout (the “Trial Price” ) for the period shown at checkout (the “Trial Period”). One Trial per person/company; non-transferable; not combinable with other offers.
5.6. Trial duration & start.
The Trial starts when you complete sign-up and ends at the exact date/time shown at purchase and on your account page (the “Trial End”).
5.7. Payment to start Trial.
If a fee applies, you’ll be charged the Trial Price at sign-up. A valid payment method is required.
5.8. Auto-conversion after Trial.
Unless you cancel before the Trial End, your Membership continues automatically at the price and billing interval shown at checkout (the “Membership Price”). Your first Membership charge occurs at the Trial End and then recurs each billing cycle until cancelled.
5.9. Cancelling during the Trial.
You can cancel anytime during the Trial Period from your account page or by emailing support@hpichecks.com. If you cancel before the Trial End, you won’t be charged the Membership Price and you’ll retain access until the Trial expires.
5.10. Trial limits & fair use.
Trials may have reduced usage limits or features; any limits are shown at sign-up. We may suspend or end a Trial for suspected abuse (e.g., creating multiple accounts to obtain repeated Trials).
5.11. Changes to Trial offers.
We may modify or withdraw Trial offers prospectively at any time. This won’t affect a Trial you’ve already started.
5.12. Consumer rights.
Nothing here affects any non-waivable consumer rights in your country (e.g., cooling-off and cancellation rights). Details are provided at checkout and on your account page.
6.1. Prices and billing frequency (typically monthly) are shown at checkout. By subscribing, you authorise us to take recurring payments using your selected method until you cancel.
6.2. We process payments via trusted payment service providers. We do not store full card details; our providers handle card data in accordance with PCI DSS.
6.3. If a payment fails, we may retry and/or suspend access until payment is successful. We may cancel your Membership for continued non-payment.
6.4. Price or plan changes. We may change fees or features. We will give you at least 14 days’ notice of any material change. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance; otherwise you may cancel before the change takes effect.
7.1. One-off Reports. Once a Report has been generated and delivered (including on-screen or by link/email), the service has been fulfilled and no refund will be issued, except where required by law or where the Report is materially defective due to our error and we are unable to re-provide it.
7.2. Membership. (a) If you cancel, your access continues until the end of the current paid period and no pro-rata refund is provided unless required by law. (b) If we fail to provide the service in a material way and cannot remedy it within a reasonable time, you may be entitled to a refund for the affected period. (c) We operate a fair usage policy. Excessive or abusive use (e.g., automated scraping, reselling, or use clearly beyond the plan’s intended scope) may result in suspension or termination without refund.
7.3. Data gaps or latency. Reports rely on third-party databases which may not be complete or up to date in real time. Absence of an entry is not a guarantee that an issue does not exist and does not by itself entitle you to a refund.
You can cancel any time, effective at the end of your current billing period. After cancellation, you will not be charged again and Membership benefits will end when the current period expires.

Your cancellation request is effective when submitted via the portal, or when we confirm receipt via email/phone (we aim to respond promptly).
9.1. Digital content supplied immediately (one-off Reports). By asking us to provide a Report immediately, you acknowledge that you lose the 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations once delivery starts, because the digital service is fully performed.
9.2. Memberships. You can cancel at any time as described above. If you requested immediate access to Membership benefits, your statutory cooling-off rights may be affected once the service begins. This does not affect any rights you may have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 regarding services that are not performed with reasonable care and skill.
9.3. Business customers. If you sign up on behalf of a business, consumer cancellation rights generally do not apply.
10.1. We process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
10.2. We collect and use data you provide (e.g., name, email, payment reference, IP address, vehicle details) to deliver the service, prevent fraud, meet legal obligations, and improve the Website.
10.3. To produce Reports, we may share necessary identifiers (e.g., registration number, VIN where applicable) with our data partners.

11.1. By creating an account or placing an order, you agree to receive transactional/service communications (e.g., receipts, Report links, account notices).
11.2. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in those emails or by contacting us.
12.1. While we aim for accuracy and completeness, we do not guarantee that any Report is error-free, exhaustive, or up to the minute. Some information may be delayed, unavailable, or incorrectly recorded by third parties.
12.2. Reports are provided “as is” for information only and do not constitute legal, financial, or mechanical advice. You should make your own enquiries (e.g., professional inspection) before purchasing a vehicle.
12.3. We are not responsible for decisions you make or losses you incur based on a Report, except where caused by our breach of these Terms or where liability cannot be excluded by law.

14.1. All intellectual property rights in the Website and Reports (excluding third-party data) belong to us or our licensors.
14.2. We grant you a non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use a Report for your own personal (or internal business) use. Any other use requires our prior written consent.
15.1. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited under law.
15.2. Subject to 15.1, we will not be liable for: (a) indirect or consequential loss; (b) loss of profit, business, or opportunity; (c) loss caused by inaccurate or incomplete information you provide; or (d) loss arising from third-party system outages or data errors outside our reasonable control.
15.3. Subject to 15.1, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to a paid Report or Membership will not exceed the amount you paid to us for that Report or, for Memberships, the fees paid in the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
16.1. If you believe you were charged in error, please contact us first at support@hpichecks.com.
16.2. Initiating a chargeback without giving us a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue may result in account suspension while the dispute is investigated.
17.1. We aim to keep the Website available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, updates, or third-party outages may temporarily affect availability.
17.2. We may modify or discontinue features at any time with reasonable notice where practicable.
18.1. We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes (including fee or feature changes for existing Members) will be notified at least 14 days in advance.
18.2. Continued use after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you should cancel before the change takes effect.
19.1. You may cancel your Membership at any time as set out in Section 8.
19.2. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms, fraud, non-payment, or misuse.
19.3. Upon termination, your licence to use any Reports already delivered remains for your personal/internal use, but you must cease any further access to the service.
20.1. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
20.2. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers resident elsewhere in the UK or EU may benefit from mandatory local consumer protections.
